TE AWAMUTU.
May 23, 1879. The Te Awamutu Oavalry Troop held a meeting here a day or two ago for the purpose of raising a hand for the Troop, mi obtamed ten likely musicians, wh.Q
are ,to be placed for training at once under an efficient instructor. It is much to be regretted that the entertainment ■which was given in the Hall some months ago, with the view; of obtaining funds to supplement the donations .of the Troop for the purohase of band instruments \vas not as well patronised by the public of the district as the promoters of the amusement expected. The Troop have decided to hold their Annual Ball in the Public Hall on Mondaynight next, ,and from the excellent arrangements that are being made f oi-fthe occasion by the gentlemen composing the Committee ; it is expected that it will be a great sucossa. . Should the weather turn out fine on the 60th natal day' 'of Her Most Gracious Majesty there -will, it is' reasonably expected, be a large gathering of' settlers present to witness the races and other amusements to be held' here in honor of the day.—Own Cobbespondeft.
