SALE OF RACING STOCK.

(From Saturday's ' Herald.') A very important sale — that of Mr E. Perkins's racehorses, including Pungawerewere, Xantippe,and seven fashionably ' bred colts recently imported by him from New Sonbh Wales — took place yesterday at the Haymarket. Mr J. S. Bnckland officiated as salesman. There was a very large attendance of racing-men, and all things taken into consideration, the prices realised were satisfactory. The imported yearlings were especially m demand, and the following prices were realised : — Brown filly, Frailty, foaled December 10, 1877, by Goldsborough, out of Flora Mclvor. She was sold with a forfeit of £8 10s on account of her Australian engagements. In fact, all the youngsters were sold subject to their forfeits, which of coarse had to be met by the purchaser. The filly was started at £80, and was bought by Mr W. Percival at 145 guineas. The nexfc offered was a grand colt by Tim Whiffler (Sydney) oub of Parachute, which started with a forfeit of 10 guineas. The first bid was 100 guineas, and the«bidding. was pretty brisk throughout. He was finally knocked down at HO guineas to Mr John Smith. The chestnnt coli Kenilworth, by Kelpie out of Empress, was then offered, and was withdrawn at 95 guineas; but he was bought subsequent to the sale by Mr John Lennard, for 1 08 guineas, A bay colt, by Maribyrnong from Lady Audley, was then put forward. He is a very handsome, well 1 developed colt, although he only started at 60 guineas, and his purchaser (Mr John Lennard) has a bargain of him at the price realised —85 guineas Ha was the cheapest horse at the sale. The chestnut colt Vortex, by Reprieve out of Ghiva, was started at 60 guineas, and bought by Mr O. McGee at 65 guineas; and a chestnafc filly, by Old England out of Meditation, was bought m at 40 guineas. The black filly Rebecca, by Goldsborough out of Sea Breeze, by the Barb, although small, attracted some attention on account of her fashionable breeding, and started at 40 guineas. She was bought by Mr Waite, of Tamaki, for 60 guineas. Mr Perkins's oth^r stock were then,

put forward. Pungawerewere was passed ia at 120 guineas, Xantippe at 45 guineas. The chestnut mare i Discord, with foal at foot to Kingfisher and m foal again to Kingfisher, was passed at 45 guineas. The trotting Mare Bay Judy was passed at £30, and a foal from"this mare by Akeake, starting a t £5, drew out the keenest competition of the sale. He was finally bought at £20 by Mr Owen McGee. The trotting mare Nellie was bought by Mr Walker for ,£9. A two-year-old gelding, by Young Performer out of Nellie, was bought by Mi Niohol at £5, and a yearling filly from, the same parents was bought by Mr Martin at £5. Paddy, a buggy horse, was passed at 21. guineas, and a roan hack by Wonder was bought by Mr St. Olair at 17 guineas. A quantity of fcarness, saddles, &o. belonging to the same owner was then pub up for sale, and fair prices were realised.
