SPECIAL TELEGRAMS.
ALEXANDRA, Tuesday, 2 p.m. FROM OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT. The ice appears to have broken at last. Three times Tawhiao sent for Ngapuhi, and the third time Te Ngakau came himself. Ngapuhi refused to go as usual without Sir G. Grey and Mr Sheehan. Te Ngakau then passed m to see Mr Sheehan, and, Sir G. Grey who was out walking, having returned, a korero took place and is noAV going on. The result ■ wiU probably not be known until tomorrow at the meeting. I attach the greatest importance to Te Ngakau's visit. It will probably result m the ' King's obstinacy giving way altogether. a .4.15 p.m. The interview with Te Ngakau concluded as I expected. It was conciliatory. He invited Sir G. Grey and Mr Sheehan to go down and see Tawhiao, but they refused as it was not, considered etiquette to do so, and derogatory to the dignity of Ministers. To Ngakau spoke of the courts and complained that they were not impartial. He states that the meeting will be held to-morrow (Wednesday.)
