IMPORTATION OF RACEHORSES.
A magnificent importation of raoingstpck in tho ahapa of yearling colts aud
fillies arrived by the s.s. Hero and were landed m Auckland in splendid conclition. Mr George Lendrum was ready to receive them on landing, and disposed ot them to the best advantage, four of tnem being accommodated in Hunter's sale-yard, one of them in Mr Lendrum's Stables, and four others in Messrs Smith's stables. The handsome young animals were interviewed at once by a large circle of racing men, by Avhom their points were discussed, but all agreed that they are very valuable acquisitions. The following are tho pedigrees of the colts and nlh.es:— The .first is a bay colt foaled wu-« e 2 l n v d , of ootobel ' 18 ?7; by Tim Whiffler (S) from Parachute, by Kingstoil (imported), from Yan-owville, by Whalebone (Tait's) from Industry, by St. John (imported), from Crazy Jane (own sister of C. Smith's Bessy Bedlam), by Immigrant (imported), from Stella, by Peter Fin (imported) •from Spaewife (imported), Tait's Whalebone, by Speculation (imported), dam of Hercules. In referring to the Australian Studbook, it i Avill be porceived that Peter Fin is by Whalebone (E) that Speculation is from Cantaloupe ; Cantaloupe from Wire, sister, to Whalebone (E) ; and as Paraguay is by English Sir Hercules, who was by Whalebone, it will be seen that-Parachute , is full of English- Whalebone blood; as in addition to the three lines above referasib to, she has two more, which she gets from , Kingston, through' England's Beauty an<SW her dam Prairie Bird The colt was engaged in the A.J.C. Sires' and Mares' ■ Produce , Stakes, Bathurst; Hawkesbury Tattersails, and V.R.C. Mares' Produce Stakes. Pie is now engaged for Auckland, i The next is a bay colt, foaled on the 7th of November, 1877, by Maribyrong from Lady Audley by Liittley John, from Bessie Bedlam by Sir Charjes. Lady Audley is the dam of the Secret, one of tha best colt of his day, Ingomar, and ethers. He Avas engaged in the A.J.C. Sires' and Mares' Produce Stakes, Tattersail's, Bathurst, and Mudgee Produce Stakes, ISBO, and is now entered at Auckland. These were owned by Mr William Dargan, and were bred by John Lee. The next is a chesnut colt, Vortex, foaled on the 7th of October, 1877, by Reprieve out of Ghiva, the dam *of Wanderer and Colima, by Velocity (imported) out of Atalanta, the dam of Viva and grand dam of Reprieve, Burwood, &c, &c, by Reprieve (imported) out of Langar Queen, by Langer (imported) out of Queen Victoria, by Gratis (imported) out of Lady Emily (imported). Vorlex was engaged for the W.R.O. and A.J.C. Marcs Produce Stakes. Next eomes the brown filly Frailty, foaled on December 10th, 1577, by Goldsborough out of Flora Mclvor, by new Warner out of lo,by Sir Hercules out of Flora Mclvor, by Rouse's Imigrant (imported) out of Cornelia, by Grasshopper out oi Manto (imported) She was engaged at the time of sale for the A.J.C, Sires' and Mares' Produce Stakes and the HaAvkesbiiry Mares' Produce Stakes, 1880. The black filly Rebecca, foaled on October 6th, 1877, is by Goldsborough out of Sea Breeze, by the Barb out of Mermaid, by Fisherman (imported) out of Sweetheart (imported dam of Tocal), by Eted Hart .out of Melesina, by Harkaway out of Potheon, by Young Blacklock out of Brandy Bet. She was engaged at the time of sale in the A.J.C. Sires and Mares' Produce Stakes, Tattersall's and Hawkesbury Mares' Produce Stakes, 1880. The .chestnut colt Koil worth, foaled August 30th, 1877, is by Kelpie (imported,) out of Empress, by New Warrior (imported), sire of Tim Whiffler, Tarragon, Volunteer, &0., out of Edith (dam of The Colonel and Detective), by Lawson's ■> Emigrant (imported) out of Hebe, by Camerton out of a mare by Hector. He was engaged in the A.J.C. Sires' Prodnce Stakes. The next is a chestnut filly, foaled September 14, 1879, by Old England, from Meditation by Lord of Linne, from Reflection by Sugar (imported) from Mirror (imported), by Sir Hercules from Prism by Camel. She Avas engaged in TattersalTs Mares Produce Stakes, 1880. Another is a fine brown filly, foaled on October oth 1877. She is named. Wycatta, aud is by Goldsborough out of Titania (winner of the Hnmebush Two-year-old Trial Stakes), by New Warrior (imported, sire of Tim Whiffler, Taragon, Volunteer, &c), niit Iq (dam of Teddington, Corisande, &c), out of Flora Mclvor (dam of Cossack, Zoe, Waimoa, &c), by Etni<rraut (imported), out of Cornelia, by Grasshopder, out of Manto (imported.) The. other is a brown oolt by Goldsborough. out of Corisande. The latter is full sister to Titania, so that it is unnecessary to repeat the , p^digre?. Corisande' s dam, the dam of Mr Bobbstt's colt Woolbi-oker, won the two -year -old Stakes in Tattersail's Club Races, 1574 ; tho tAvo-year-old Stakes, Newcastle Riioos, 1874; the Nursery Haudioap, Newcastle Races, May, 1874 ; the Flying Haudican, Mudgee, 1874 ; Forced Handicap, Hawkesbury, 1874 ; Railway Plate, Maifcland, a mile, beating Sterling, AyDig'ht-for-age ; Forced Handicap, Newcastle, 1875 ; Mumimndi Handibap, 1876 ; aud Forced Handicap, Maitland, 1876. Seven of those fine animals have been imported by Mr Perkins, sue filly by Mr PerCival and one colt for Mr Bobbet, of the Thames.
