■ « Sir, — Knowing* equal aud exact justice forms part of your creed, allow me to claim a small consideration of the same, and beg you to insert the following : — Understanding that a portion of the Cambridge community labor undor the delusion that I pleaded under the Tippling Act m Court last Tuesday with a view of defrauding Mr FTewitt, will you allow me through the medium of your journal to correct them. I pleaded the Act to protect my goods until I could meet his demand. I have dealt with M r Hewitt ever since I have been m Cambridge, and I considered it very sharp practice on his part to summons me. After the despatch with which the case appeared m the columns of the ' Star,' I feel glad that I trusted to the judgment of the Court — oven with such a plea plaoed before them — rather than to the mercy of Mr Hewitt. I would now ask one question : Who is worst — the man who submitted to plead a debasing plea m defence of his family aud his chattels, or the man who sued mo after I had spent hard cash m his house every week— in fact, almost every day sinco I have been m Cambridge. —I am, &0., Henry Robkktshaw. Cambridge, March 7, 1871>.
