THE HAMILTON PIGEON MATCH.
We do not on previous occasions recollect having seen more interest taken in this annual event, or, barring the absence of lad ; es from the field, a better attendance than gathered yesterday afternoon for <t trial of skill with the gun. in the paddock at the rear of Mr Claude's house, afc Hamilton. There was a good deal of money depending unon many of the results Bats wrh larg-e odds were eriven on individual shots, one crentleman taking five to om, and even's on single shots, that left him full three ponies to the good, when the mafc3h was over. The weather was jasfc the thing—only a very wind,— but the birds rose elowlv. There were five birds each, and therefore tho highest possible score was 10, which was made in the one instance. As will be seeu by the scores, some of the shooting was good.
Considerable excitement was felt, when it came to Mr E. B. Cox's las' shot, which, had the bird been killed by the first barrel, would have made a tie between himself and Mr Henderson, or if by the second barrel, between himself and Mr K. lltH, Mr Cox jot over tb:
difficulty, by missing his bird. Mr Gwynuo also came near making a crack fcore, but fell away at the third shot. In shooting off the tie between Messrs Gwynne and Cox, Mr Cox won third place. List night a mi'oh wa,?, we millers and, arranged between Mr rleoiei son and Mr Bishop, for rather a large amount, 25 birds a-piece, to come off shortly.
