THE BACH BALL.
The closing event of race week was the ball, which was gicen by the Tarf Club last night, in Pearce't? large room at the Commercial Hotel, Hamilton. By some mischance the services of the Cambridge Reed Band were not secured, but the kindness of a lady amateur supplied the deficiency and danciug was kept uo with great spirit till a late hour. The room had been tastefully decorated under the superintendence of Mr George Mason, and the supper tables were elegantly kid out in the usual side rooms in Mr Pearce'a best style, who spares neither trouble nor expense in miking such occasions add to the well-earned reputation of his establishment.
Over one hundred persons were present, a large proportion of whom were visitors from outside the district.
