TE AWAMUTU SuHOOL MEETING.

TnE annual meeting of householders of this district was held m the Public Hall, on Monday evening 1 , 27th instant, at 3 o'clock p.m. Mr J. Winsfcone was elected to the chair, and opened the proceedings, by reading the instructions from the Board of Education Mr Thomas Gresham, Chairman of the outgoing committee, read the report of his committee. Mr "W. Sloane said, that before this report could be entertained, he would call the attention of householders to the reprehensible conduct of this committee, re the dismissal of Mr MacLar.au, teacher, and reviewed their acts m a most courteous style, and moved that this meeting has confideace m the report of this committee, and that the report lie on the table. Seoonded by Mr H. Lewis Mr J. H. Mandeno proposed an amendment, that the report read, be adopted, which was lost for want of a seconder When he again proposed a vote of thanks to the committee, which received no better treatment. The Chairman called the attention of the meeting to the election of a committee. Several gentlemen were nominated, but refused to act. Tho Chairman observed that, m accordance with his duty as Chairman of the meeting, he would inform the Education Board of the action that the householders had taken, and declare! the meeting to be dissolved. A vote of thanks to the Chairman closed the proceedings of this committee, which had caused so much illfeeling m the district.— Fnoat a Cobresfohtdbnt.
