FATHER HENNEBERRY IN WAIKATO
THE MISSION SERVICE. These services were opened on Sanday last, m a large marque connected with the Catholic Church building at East Hamilton, the officiating Priests assisting Father Henneberry, being the Rev. Fathers O'Mahony, from Coramandel, and the Rev. Father Golden, of Waikato. Father Paul, of Onehunga, and Father Riordan, of Pammure, arrived m Hamilton yeaterday, and will assist m the exercises and ser- i vice 3, which will be continued daily j at Hamilton during the week, till they close on Friday, ou the night of which day the last service of the Waikato Mission will take place. On Sunday the marquee was quite full, and at the evening service there could not have been fewer than GOO persons present. During the entire day the road from uambridge to Hamilton was throngpd with wayfarers m evsry possible conveyance, on horseback and on foo^ every district m the r " F.iur Counties " furnishing, its votaries, some coming, even, from Raglan. A very excellent sermon was preached by Father Henneberry himself, which was listened to with ovei'y attention by the large congregation, and the collection made for defraying the expenses of the Mission was also good, These services will he continued daily until Friday, the first m the day commencing at 5 a.m, anther at 7 a.m., a third m the afternoon, at 5.33 p.m.. Tho evening exercises coramenoe at 7 p.m, when a sermon also will be preached. Other services and exersises will be oontiaued up to 9 p.m. After nine o'clock ther will be another sermon and the days' devotions will then close with the Benediction. As we have said there has been a gathering of the faithful from all parts of tho district. A great many up.couiitry residents were, disappointed wheu tliey found, that
without a notici of any kind, the usual Saturday evenings train from Oha.upo at G o'clock would not run on that day. The explanation I of this was that Saturday was the railway employees holiday and pic- \ nic, but. unfortunately, the railway authorities had not notified their intention of not running the train on that day, and great numbers of people arriving at Ohaupo, from up.country, wpre disappointed, • V ester lay, the services were held at the different hours throughout the day, and were largely attended.
