Sir, — I see m your paper what I suppose is called m electioneering parlance, " a largn and iiifluontiatly signed requisition," asking Mr R. 11. Hunt to stand as C. C. for the Newcastle E-iding. How any constituency should wish to place its interests m Che hands of a clerk of the W.S.N.Co. is beyond my comprehension — a company that has gained for itself an unenviable nofcriety for its shortsighted and selfish policy m its dealing 1 with the settlers, by the infliction of heavy freights, tending to the discouragement of all industry. looking lib it from the view of au outsider, it .speaks ivocfitlly f or the credit of the riding, that the ratepayers should have to resort to servants of such, to represent their interests m the Council.
