BOROUGH FOOTPATHS.
Sra,— l notice m the report of the Borough Council meeting, m your issue of Tuesday last, that it has been decided to make a footpath alongside the Bank of New Zealand m Hood-street to its junction with Anglesea-streer, which footpath, I perceive, is now being formed. If the vlayor or some of our worthy Councillors would only walk round and see the disgraceful state of Augleeea-street, from the culvert to King.sley's Comer — where, during last Avinter, it was impossible for people" io pass without getting knee-deep m mud— l think they would hesitate m wasting money on a footpath where there is already a good road and only a few miserable shanties to get any benefit by it. Considering that there are a large number of ratepayers m AuglesKa-street aud its neighborhood, and that a great many children have been prevented from going to school by the disgraceful state of the roadway, something ought to be done iv the matter. I trouble you with this letter m the hope that, through the medium of your valuable paper, the Borough Council will be brought to a remembrance that there is an Anglescastreet before they waste any further money m making footpaths which are no use to anyone. — I am, &0., A Resident — P.S. : Should any accident happen at the culvert, I presume the Corporation will be liable for damages.
