RAILWAY ACCIDENT.
The unfenced state of the Auckland and "Waikato line is cause of considerable anxiety to stockownera and the travelling public. On Wednesday, as the tup train was nearing Taupiri, a large dappled grey horse ran m on the open bridge, known as Stewart's, and was literally cut to pieces by the engine, which, as it happened, had no cow-catcher attached. Fortunately no accident happened to the train, though the strain upon it must have been considerable, for it is stated that portions of the horse were forcibly squeezed through the bridge work. Had the engine itself been forced off the rails m such a place the result might have been very serious.
