THE TELEGRAPH WIRES.
The telegraph wires have suffered severely m both Islands through present gales, and the lines been blocked since 5 o'clock, because only one wire is available northward. A*train m Otago, going 40 miles an hour, wag blown off the line. I don't know the locality nor the result, but the fact has been telegraphed to Ministers. A. fierce gale, with intermittent bursts, is blowing here (1.20 a.m.), and there seems no sign of mending.
