to call tli is meeting- »o disenss the idea of a railway to Hamilton East. He had seen by the paper that Hamilton people were endeavoring to get a tramway across the river. Ho thought a I ram way wonld be perfectly useless to the sellers of Cambridge, Tamahere, Kirikiriroa and Pi^ko. What they wanted was }i tailway which would take their cattle away to Auckland. They could now get their cattle taken down from Ohaup;i at 10s a head, if if Lliey co"ld get them taken for 5a it would be a great boon. But driving- them to Ohaupo was inconvenient. If they had to drive their cattle all the^way to Auckland it would depreoiafi^ their value to the extent of 40s to 50s a. he.id.
