WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL.
A special meeting of the above Council was held at Ohaupo on xVlouday, the 12th hist. Present: Crs. J. D. Hill (Chairman) , F. 0. Germauu, J. H. Mandeuo, Jo!'..♦ Fisher, R. Fitzpatrhk, and W. McGregor Hay. The minutes of the last meeting wore read and confirmed. The Chairman said he had called the meeting iu accordance with a requisition signed by Messrs German, Mandeno a ad Fitzpatrick, for the purpose of considering the expediency of bringing the whole of the Act into operation in the County. The following resolution was then proposed by Mr Mandeno, and seconded by Mr Fitzpatrick, " That this Council determines by resolution that the whole of the Counties Act be brought into force in the County of Waipa, and that the Chairman be instructed to send a copy of this resolution to the Colonial Secretary." Crs. German, Hay, Mandeno and Fitzpatrick, voted for the motion, and Crs Hill and Fisher against it. The motion was therefore carried. Or. Hill tendered jhis resignation to the Council as Chairman, which was accepted. Proposed by Cr. Hay, seconded by <>. Fitzpatrick, that Cr. Geamann be appointed Chairman of the Council. Carried. It was then proposed by Cr. Mandeno, seconded by Cr. Fits-
patriek, that the Chairman be requested to call a special meeting of the Council at Ohaupo on Monday, the 26th instant, at 12 o'clock, for the purpose ol considering the necessity of amending the representation of the several ridings in tho county.
Cr. Fisher moved an amendment, seconded by Cr. Hay, that the meeting be held at Frankton instead of Ohaupo. For tho motion : Crs. Maudeno, Fitzpatriek, and Hiil. Against : Crs. Hay and Fisher. This concluded tho business.
