[lUtESS AUENUV.] HOKIA.NGA, last night. The steamer ' Geelong ' was caught m a ga'e off Whangape, and had to oast adrifc a raft of 50,000 feet of timber, worth £4000. CHRISTCiICRCH, Friday. The Canterbury Coursing- Olnb held a meeting to-day. The weather was fine, but cold. There was a Were attendance. Hares were, unfortunately, rather scarce. For the Saplings Stakes there was twelve entries. For the Canterbury Cup, thirty-two entries In the Cup match the first coarse was won by the Christchurch dogs. Goll-Goil beat Bluecap, Gell-Gell beat Reuben, Russian Emperor beat Master Walter and Spring. The Oamani dogs, Larouga, Magic, Mechanic, and Frolic ; the luvevcargill dog, Gazeil ; the Dunediu dog, Cumberland ; and the Taka dog, Verbena, also competed. DUNEDIN, Saturday. The Roslyn election took place yesterday, and resulted m the return of Mr Driver by a majority of 116. The numbers were : Driver, £335 . Ross, £219.
