CAMBRIDGE FARMERS' CLUB.
A special meeting was held m the Club Honse on Saturday, June 29th. The meeting had been convened for 2 p.m., but m c'onsepuence of a telegram having been received from Auckland saying, tbat Mr Lewis and some members of the Club were on their way to attend the meeting, it was adjourned till after the arrival^ the coach. There was present, Messrs. E. Maclean (President, m the chair), E. B. Walker, R. H. D. Fergusson, Richard Reynolds, F. Hicks, Geo. Clark, A. A. Fantham, John Hunt, James Runciman, John Runciman, W. JL. Martyn, Henry .Buttle, and Captain Walmsley. The Chairman having seated that the meeting had been called to receive the report of the Commission appointed by the Club to inspect Mr Jolly's sheep, Mr R. H. D. Fergussan, on behalf of the Com. mission, stated, that he, m company with the other gentlemen appointed by the Club, had made a very careful examination of Mr Jolly's shee]., but had failed to find any trace of scab. Mr Lewis* (who had been invited to attend), then produced and read over the evidence given m the Resident Magistrates Court, Auckland. A number of questions were asked by the membeis of the Club, which Mr Lewis answered. He also made other explanations, a full report of which is held over till our next, m consequence of press of matter. The Club then, on the motion of Mr Hicks (Mr E. B. Walker, seconder), nassed the following resolution : — "This meeting having heard Mr Lewis' explanation, and the whole evidence read, of the recent Jolly scab case m Auckland, is of opinion that the living A cams should have been proved with a glass to have existed iri the sheep condemned as scabby, before conviction for the offence."
