THE WAITARA MEETING.
[Per Electric Telegraph, frcm a Special Correspondent,] Rewi anil Sir George Grey met again yesterday afternoon near the railway , station, a great many natives boifig present.. ii'ewi last night asked that Waitara should A be returned. To-ctey Sir
j George Grey answered that Waitara would remain m the hands of himself and Rewi. . This, although to Europeans equivocal, seemed to satisfy the Maoris. A concession, afc least m name, had been made, and their amour propre vindicated. Sir Geo. Grey and Rewi have yet to settle the particula rs privately, the public discussion being now finished. On Monday a great Native and European banquet will be given here. Although to us this meeting seems indefinite, yet good must be the result of Revvi's present attitude.
