THE RAGLAN AND WAIPA ROAD.
Sis,— l see by your last issue an. account 'of a public meeting at : Harapipi to consider a propbsal to bring : the Counties Act into operation, for the purpose of enabling the Council to undertake the construction 1 of ; the Raglan and Waipa Road, and Mr A. S. Sherrett at that meeting correctly stated that the Council had not. the .slightest need to trouble their heads about it, as the Government in-, tended to make the road, independent of the County Council. ? "N"o aoubfc, out bf courtesy to the Council, their .worthy Chairman was anxiqus to pay them 'the compliment of sharing with them the. honor of carrying out this long-promised connecting link that '■••will remove frpiii Raglan^he halo of isolation that has so, long sitrrpunded it. In such hands as our Chairman, with Mr Palmer's. valuable assistance, whom the Government have authorised to carry out the work, I have not the least doubt it will speedily be brought to a most successful termination. ■—I am, etc., T; B. Hill. , r Auckland, May 29. ;
