A speciai, .^meeting of the Council was hold on Friday last, the for the purpose of passing .the -. annual accounts, and to enable Or. " : ' .. . ; , The Clerk was asked i'f ; he ,had obtained the necessary information /from the Chairman of the Cambridge Tpwn Board to enable the County to take action to obtain payment to the County Fund account of the amount of Dog Tax collected at Cambridge. He replied that he had rot, and Or. dimming moved that immediate legal action be taken to cpmpell. Major Clare to give the informationaeiuired. The motion was seconded by Cr Gall; and uuaiainously agreed to. „ : POUNDKEEPEB AT CAJTBEIDGE. In compliance with a request made by the Chairman of the, Cambridge Town Board; it was resolved to call for tenders for tho appointment of Public Poundkeeper at Cambridge. P.IVER LAUDIXG RESERVE. ( Practically lie would be a loser by the transaction. ,He deprecated hasty action by the Council, and begged that they would make further. enquiry before , doing. . what in his opinion would be prejudicial to the public interest, antl that too 'in a matter not even within the Waikato County. The Council having disposed of all pressing business, proceeded to deal witli the main object of the meeting— namely, the amending of the representation of Ridings. ■:. t ,-v Cr. Clarke,- Avho had given notice; of motion in, the matter, requested leave to postpone moving until Friday the 14th June. He stilted 4hat he- had not quite understood the position of the question, and waa not.prepared at present to go on. He would aJLsp. wish to sec a fuller meeting.
