HAMILTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

A meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council was held on Monday evening last, but very little busines was transacted. The report of the Punt Committee was read Avhich suggested that the business of carrying out the repairs be entrusted to the Mayor with power to employ day labour. The Mayor stated that he had made arrangements with Mr Jackson to get the punt repaired. The first thing to be done was to get the rails aud handrails repaired, and then ufLer due notice to get the boats out and repair them. With regard to the maps and le7tls of f.he township, the Mayor stated that he had baenin counnnni•jation with the Chief Surveyor, Mr Percy Smith, who recommend eel the Board ti> have the assistance of the Government m taking- the levels. He suggested that half a dozen thoroughly competent men be named by the Survey Office, and let them tender for the work. He. Mr Smith, offered to make the specifications and put m the conditions that the work: be passed by a Government Surveyor, one of whom would check the work on (lie ground. This motion was seconded by Cr. Gwynne aud carried unanimously. The Council then adjourned till Wednesday evening next.
