TO THE BURGESSES OF HAMILTON.
(In favour Waikato Times). Ox the 20th inst... the.-Burgesses Avill be called upon to decide whether they will sanction the borrowing 1 .: a sum of £7,000 tor the purpose, of erecting a bridge across the river at' Hamilton. The Government have made aiTangemeuts with the Mayor and Council that upon the Government approving the plans and specifications of the bridge on the river, the sum of £3,000 voted for the construction of the bridge shall be available for the purpose of inlying in part cost of such bridge on vouchers, to be duly certified from time to time by the officer appointed by the Borough Council for that purpose. The Government have also promised to forward, by firat mail, the drawings and specifications for the said bridge, prepared some time since for the approval of the Borough Council. It will therefore be seen that all difficulties in reference to the construction of the bridge have been removed, and it only remains for the burgesses to give the Council the power of borrowing the sum of. £7OOO to have the work proceeded with at once. The site approved by a large majority of the Council is that of Clarke’s survey, close to Mr Webber’s house. All reasonable pretext for disunion having been thus removed, I trust taat the votes of the burgesses of Hamilton will be as one man—for tha raising the necessary loan for a work of such vital importance to the commercial interests of Hamilton. I am, etc., I. E. Yialou. Hamilton, April 8, 1878.
