Tenders for alterations and additions to Walker'B National Hotel, Cambridge, will be received by Mr T. H. White on or before noon of to-day. Messes J. D. and K. Hill will offer for sale on Saturday next, at their Mart, Victoria Street, Hamilton, allotment No. 68 Parish of Karainu, County of Rutland, containing some 80 acres. A Public Meeting of • the ratepayers of the Tuhikaramea school district will be held on Tuesday, the 9th inst., at 4 p.m., to elect a trustee in the place of IVIr Frew, who has resigned. A Bankruptcy Notice appears in our advertising columns of the first meeting of the creditors of James Edwards and John Henry Edwards, of Alexandra. The meeting will be held to-morrow, in the Court House, Hamilton, at 2 p.m. Messrs Hunter and Nolan will hold their usual monthly sale of cattle at the Ohaupo Yards on Thursday next, when a quantity of mixed cattle and some Waikato grown three year old steers, in fresh condition, will be offered for sale. ' New School Committees are requested by the Secretary to the Board of Education, to furnish to the Board the information as to names, &c.,on the printed forms of Return forwarded to the late committees for that purpose. Applications to Register on the electoral rolls of the district will, it seems* have to be sent in on the 30th March, the 31st falling on a Sunday. The present week, therefore, is the last during which such applications can be received.
Several Business Sites in the main street in East Hamilton are offered for competition to public tender, either for the freehold or for lease of 21 years. Tenders will be received by Mr Treewheellar, of Hamilton, or Mr Renshaw, of the Thames, until the 13th of April.
The Cambridge Sheep and Cattle Sales of Mr Buckland takes place to-day, in the Cambridge Yards, after the review, at 2 p.m. Mr Buckland, besides offering some well bred useful cattle, will bring to the hammer over 2,000 head of sheep, wethers in fat condition, ewes, also long wooled lambs, and half bred ewes, from well known Waikato flocks.
"We observe, from our advertising columns, that Mr J. R. Randerson, of No. 14, Insurance Buildings, Auckland, is prepared to supply, at nominal charges, "plans of town allotments to country settlers, and to this end, we understand, arrangements have been made with a competent drughtsman. For this and other particulars we refer our readers to Mr Randerson's advertisement.
Ditching and Road Forming, Piako.— Tenders will be received by the Waitoa Highway Board up to Thursday next, the 28th inst.,for several miles of ditching and road forming between the Piako and Waitoa rivers. Specifications may be seen at the store of Mr R. Harris, Hamilton East, or at the Nottingham Castle Hotel, and parties wishing to see the ground will be shown over it by applying at Mr W. A. Murray's station.
"VOLUNTEER CAVALRY MOVEMENTS. —The review will take place to-day, in presence of His Excellency the Governor and the Defence Minister, Col. Whitmore, in the Government paddocks, Cambridge, at 11 o'clock. The Cambridge troop will assemble at the Public Hall, Cambridge, at 9'30 a.m. sharp. The Hamilton contingent will muster at 7 a.m., opposite the Royal Hotel, Hamilton East. The Hamilton contingent will then repair to the Cambridge Bridge by 10 a.m., whero they will meet the Te Awamutu troop. The whole force of the Waikato cavalry is some 150 strong, and it is to be earnestly hoped there will be a full muster on this occasion.
Public Libraries. A windfall of £1025 7s. has fallen to the public libraries in the Provincial District of Auckland, being the subsidy under the Public Libraries Subsidies Act, 1877, for distribution in this part of New Zealand. Managers of country libraries are warned, by the Secretary of the Board of Education, to f umish, as soon as possible, the following information in respect of their libraries :—lst, its name; 2nd, the amount of voluntary subscriptioas actually received during the year 1877; and, thirdly, a copy of rules and regulations, with scale of subscription, and other fees, if any.
