WHATAWHATA.

Now that the Hamilton railway station is finished, and a road from thence into that city has been formed, we, in Whatawhata (and in the Waipa generally), would feel obliged if some well-informed* person would tell us of any available route to the station other than the present one, which takes Waipa settlers within a quarter of a mile of the station and then makes a circuit of about two miles, passing through Hamilton before the desired end is gained. It is far easier i"0 go from Whatawhata to Ngaruawahia—though a distance' of eleven miles—than to the HamiE|tei station, which is only about six miles in a direct line. Is nothing going to be done to improve this »tate of things 1 What ha 3 become of all the money voted for ap. proaches to railway—some £50,000Has it all been spent, or is the Waipa too insignificant a district to receive any of it. It seems as if it were thought so. It was a great pity that the deputation from Whatawhata, which, waited upon the Premier, did not mention the subject of railway approaches from the Waipa. However, it is not too late ; bub if something is not done, so that we may derive some benefit from a railway we have helped to construct, we shall have to conclude that Dr Pollen is still in power, and that out- wants, after all, are only loc.il ones.—Correspondent.
