HARAPEPE.
March 23. Dr Harsant, the Assessment Jurltre was here on Monday, the instant, to hold an Assessment Court and hear appeals, if any, against the rating or valuation. In this district, there were none. In some of the districts he his to visit, there is neither Highway Board nor Assessment Roll, so that it is. impossible for there to be any appeals, and it seems a piece of humbug to
ke<-p .\ magistrate travelling about to carry out a mere form. It looks very much like red tape. The hooping cough is very bad amongst the children in this district, and it has thinned the attendance of the scholars at the school.
In mv last letter, containing a report of the meeting to elect the new school committee, the principal part of it was omitted. The new committee are : Messrs Hodgeson, Livingstone, Rosborough, McMinn, Pohlen, Rollo, McQuirk.
