" And God said ttt there be light, and there was light." Eve's stary diamonds glitter on the brow Of the empurpled fumament-, the Moon Smiling, a Queen reigning o'er subjects now. It is a solemn festival, and soon A Ring shall come and sit upon the throne. O ! Sun thou hidest even' as a God, Yet m thine orbit circlest still alone ! Who hides his face but one, because the ray Were blindness to our eyes? In this abode Of flesh we cannot see the Perfect Day. The Bridegroom cometh! Even as we gaze The Golden Gates are opened, and behold— Alas, it waß a dream— the night is grim and cold — A spectre 1 Tears are changed to endless praise. VICTOE L. BEmNGIXELD. March 13th, 1878.
