UP AND DOING.
Si«,— l would like to ask our Mayor and Borough Council what they are doing or what they mean to do. Two meetingß have been held at which really nothing has been done, and then, foivooth, they adjourn for a fortnight. Why, sir, they ought to meet at least twice a week until they get things m working order, and get all m readiness for carrying out the object for which Hamilton was formed into a borough — viz., the erection of a bridge. ,If they do not move very «oon m the 'matter thoy may jet, live to fad, %
promised £3,000 slitting from their grasp, and if the vote once lapses— and mind you it is only open until next June— good bye to the bridge, for Parliament are not likely to again put on the estimates a sum of money if it is not taken when offered. If his Worship and fellow councillors do. not brighten up, and let us see that they mean business and not playing at civic dignity; they will-hear perhaps more than they like from .their fellow ratepayers. So just take advice Messrs Borough Councillors, and meet more often, and when you do meet talk a little more business and a little less nonsense.— -I am, &c, A lUtbpaybb. Hamilton, February 20th, 1878.
