The minutes of the previous meeting having been lead and confirmed, communications received and sent since tbe 6th December were read over, and the following accountpassed and ordered to be paid, viz. : Mr Beris, Jtvmgiriri, 155. ; Mi He veil, on account, £18; Messiv Uysdaie and Wilson, on aocoun . £37 55.; Mr T. G. .Sandes, £17 3a 6d. £39 7s to be debited to separate account, and i.33 16a. 6d. to separate account. THE DOG TAX. The Chairman reported with ref« - rence' to a discussion at a previous meeting, that having failed to obtain payment into the County Fund a3COuDt, agreeably to Clause 32 ot the Financial Arrrngemeutis Act, 1877, of money collected by tin .East ti a mil ton Town Board as a tux ou dogs, he had been reluctantly compelled to bUe Mr David Gai-dmer. tbe gentleman to whom the constab c had paid the money, and the ICe.sileut Magistrate had given a judgment m tavi>ur ol the county. THE PERRY RENT. Mr Claude also seated that tin Puntman, Mr Ebeuezer Potter, having failed to pay the ferry real due on 21st January together wiih a sum of £3 due from the month ot December, amounting m all to £2iJ 13s 4d, he had instructed a solicitoi to take steps to recover it. EXTENSION OF TIME. Messrs Rysdale and Wilson, road contractors, applied for an extension of time to 30oh March, which was granted. SHEEP INSPECTORS. Cr. Clarke referred to a ietter written by the Chairman to the Government recommending the ippointment of a second inspector ot sheep m the district. He said helelt rather reluctant to disturb the action taken by the Chairman, as something required to be done m the matter no doubt, but he was oi opinion that it was not the size oi the district which prevented proper inspection and supervision of sheep, but the ridiculously inadequaie salary at present paid of the gentleman holding the appointment. Cr. Camming reported that "hi had seen Sir George Grey when hi.was m Hamilton m reference to the reconstruction of the Wrangamarino Bridge, and the Premier had requested that the application be pui m. writing, and ihe Clerk was instructed to do so. A letter was r L -ad from Mr. S. T. .Seddon relative- to the drains being made by the Council on the roa-> irom Mr Coatea' farm to Cook Street Mr Seddon pointed out that m ordei to avoid injury to his outlet drain bhe Council should cause the m .m train m the vicinity of O'jNeii'a Corner to be enlarged. The Chairman stated that Into ad referred the question to tin Engineer, who had reported ii. writing, and that a copy of tin report would be forwarded to Mr Seddon. SLAUGHTERHOUSE REGULATIONS. A Committee, consisting of Crs. Cummingand Whyte, was appointed to make the necessary arrangements for carrying out the provisions oi the Slaughterhouse Act, 1877. ROAD WORK. A letter was read from the Chairman of the East Hamilton Town Board, requesting the Council to sanction a grant of LIOO being made to his Board to enable them to complete, certain work m the district. As the Council had to attend conference of Councillor* at 2 o'clock, it was resolved to let the consideration of the application stand over till the next meeting. RANGIRIRI ROLL. Cr. Gall moved, and Cr. Clarke seconded a resolution that a rate of one shilling m the pound sterling upon the annual rateable value of all lands m the Rangiriri out-district be levied for the current year, 1877-8. Carried. DOG TAX FEES. The Cierk was directed to write to the Chairman of the Cambridge Town 80.- id request ing him to payto the County Fund Account the net amount received m his district, since J>«ne last as dog tax. All other business was deferred till next meeting, to enable Council-' lors to attend the Conference.
