THE AST HAMILTON FERRY APPROACHES.
Sib, — A paragraph appears m your issue of Saturday which boars somewhat unfairly on the Waikato County Council, as though the fault was theirs that the intended repairing of the road leading to the ferry was not undertaken. It is not the fault of the Council that this is so, but of the East Hamilton Town Board, or, I should rather say, of a certain member of it, who, strange to tell, claimed for that Board the exclusive right to repair this road, and whose dignity was ruffled because, forsooth, an ther local body was foolish enough 'to have undertaken it. That portly senator's dignity is saved, however, at the expense of the public, for that which he will not allow the County to do, left to him, still remains undone, and the public convenience and safety are butchered for the maintenance of a petty feeling of Bumbledom, which will, with those who indulge m it, be swept away, I hope, under the new order of things now setting m. — I am, etc., An East Haiolton Ratepayer.
