Michael Ryan was charged witb behaving m a disorderly manner and using indecent, and insult in<* language with intent to provoke a breach of tho peace m a public place to wit, the hall of the Royal H ibel, Hamilton East, on the night of the 3r 1 instant. The Prisoner pleaded not guilty m asmnch as he was inside doors, and that the police could not interfete with him. Sergeant McGbvern stated the cose, and said, be had no doubt that his Worship would agree with him that the hall of an. hotel was a most pnblic place, ''here was many men of the prisoner's stamp that considered imce they g>t inside a pnblic house they were free from the police, and could make use of vile language. I Two witnesses were examined, j aud proved tbat the conduct and ! language of the prisoner was disgracful, and if the constable had not apprehended the prisoner a serious breach of the peace would have tan en place.
