. „ September 3rd. A meeting of the ratepayers of the ttrongia Highway District was held m the new school-house, Harapipi, on Satur; day, the Ist mat. Mr Alexander Shwrett was voted to the chair. The, Chairman having read the advertisement from the Waikato Times, m reference to tha object of the meeting, viz., to eleot anew trustee, proceeded with the business! Mr D Rollo proposed, "That Mr James 9herrett be trustee." Seconded by Mr Jft Neil. * As there was no opposition. ,MrSherrett was elected. After the meeting, a discussion arose as to the proposed site of the sohool teacher's house, and it was universally coademned as being about the worat that could be chosen. A petition was at once written out, and signed by all present, to be Bent m to the looal oommittee, to reconsider the site and ohadge'it for a better. The preseut one is on the most exposed pact of the ground, and, olose to the top of a deep gully, bo bleak that for a teacher to have a garden' that any*: thing would «row m, would be almost iatpoß&iblo. After the public maofciug, a meeting' of' the Road Board was 'liel<£ ThY only business of auy importance done, was to -give notice by advertisement . that the trustees intend to meet on Saturday, the 22ud iust., for the purpose! of striking a rate of sixpence m the pound.
