Mr Macfarlane, to-day, gave notice of motion for returns of all small debt cases heard m the Resident Magistrates Courts of 'the Colony, showing costs of court, lawyers fees and charges, also tor a return of all imprisonments under the Abolition of Imprisonment ior Debt Act ; also for a return from the Supreme Court of all bankruptcies and results. The object is to show the Abolition of Imprisonment for Debt Act presses hai'dly on small debtors, while rich men simply fee lawyers and escape scot free by compounding with their creditors.
