BRIDGE AT HAMILTON,
PUBLIC MEETING. There was a large attendance of ratepayers last night in Le Quesne's Hall in answer to the appeal of tbe Chairmen of the local Boards to consider the best steps to procure the construction of a bridge. At first there was an incli nation to make -another ad mioericordiam _ appeal to the. Gaver nnjent>to. undertake the work, but. better counsel prevailed and the following resolutions were ultimately put and carried : — I— That this meeting is of opinion tbat in the Brent of the Government not con* struoting a bridge over ths Waikato between the two* townships of Hamilton, the two township Highway Boards should form themselves into a borough with a view to the erection of a central safe and economic bridge to conneot the two townships and to facilitate the increasing traffic of the district. 2 — That the two Highway Boards of East and West Hamilton form themselves into a Committee to take the necessary steps for the formation of the two townships into a borough. A vote of thanks to the chairman, Mr S TSeddoi ard to Mr LeQuesne for the use of the Hall, concluded the business, the full report of which is held over.
