De»r Sir— Referring to your letter of ' the 9th June, m which you ask me to lay before my directors Mrs Gay'a position with regard to the policy effected by her late hushand on his interest m the Kate Brain, I have now much pleasure of iv forming you that, although they cannot r»cogoise any claim for any sum beyond that insured by the policy existing when the vessel was lost, yet, In view of Mre Gayk circumstances, the faotof Captain Gay having always insured with .us, and upon nay strong recommendation, they are willing,^and authorise me to present Mrs Gay with a gratuity if £50, which 1 shall be glad to do at any time it may suit Mrs Gay 1 convenience to receive it.
