JVont" T(x\ly Times " Utk July, 1877 Ah an evidence of the liberality which sometime* otinraoi arises the actions of lnsuru.ee o<>mpani*B, we have much pleas.nein publishing the three letters at fcnt, which reflect very creditably upou ti.a N«if Z. aland Insurance Company and iJrllliott, its local agent. It -will be remembered that the vessel r«. ferr«d to, ineKafc- Brain, left Tiimaru for Auckland iv March laat, and has not beeu ha rd of, the presumption being that she f. undered during a heavy gale which pr**vai>ed while the was at eea. The letters apeak for themselves, and require nouummeut from us, excepting to say that *uuh liberality and generosity doserve tbe prosperity which has always atfc.iidHd the New Zealand Insurance Company.^ • ■ . •„ Dunrdin, 9'h Jane, lt<7i George W Elliott, E«q., Agent. fI.Z. Insurance Company, Dunedin. Dear Sir — Referring to , the conferI had with you the other day on -Sfie subj ot of the late Captain Gay'a •^nolioy of insurance." with your office, on his shar* of the "bull" of the Kate Brain, I beg now, on behalf of his widow, to lay a short statement of faoti before you. . During the whole time the Kate Brain has been owued m Dunedin, Captain Gay ,s interest basb«en insured m the New Zealand Office- for the first two years m the pum of £500, but the last year he reduced the ammount to £300, as he o v d not afford to pay the high premium charged. It has turned out an unfor-miate reduction tor him, or rather for his widow and five little ones, and on their behalf I now appeal to the generosity of your Director*, and would ask them either to look upon the insurance as still m existence for £500, or a itherise you to make a liberal donation to the widow m brr unfortunate circumstance?. I have, to ask that you will communioate with you« Directors at your earliest convenience, and oblige— Youra, &c, Keith Bamsay.
