DTTNEDIN V. AUCKLAND. A meeting of football players, called by advertisement, to consider the best means of receiving the Danedin team on their approaching visit, «« held yesterday eveniug, at tha Thames Hotel. Mr T Henderson was votel to the chair, and explained" the purpose for which the meeting had beou called. It will be remembered that the Danedin men wished the Auckland pluyers to meet them at Wellington, but as this was demurred to, the Duued.n players wrole again, asking what assistance would bs given towards their expeuses in coming to Auckland. After consulting with Borne of the prominent players, Mr Heaaerson telegraphed back that the whole of the gate money, less actual expense, would .be at their disposal. This offrfr was accepted, and the match will probably come off abouß a mouth from this time, as thaDunedin men have fixed to leave on their tour during, thy ut-eoud week in August. The following cimmittee to select the Auckland was thun elected, viz, Messrs King, Henderson W W Robinson, F 0 Sharland, and Oo'son, and it was determined that the .following gentlemen be requested to act as a reception committee, with power to add to their numb r :— His Worship the Miyn*. Messrs H E Wuitaker, H\E Cotton, J Phi<wn, J CqpUa, M E Clark, J Nohin I) Tonks, and P 0 bharland, Mr M :nd-rson was requeste'l to telegraph to Dan din to know under what rules they wish el the match to be played, ami a meeting of the lleception Com mitt^nxel to take place a 5 p.m. on MmUy, at the office of Messrs Clark an I '*:o'iß.
