SHOOTING.
Silt,— -As the shooting season has commenced, and from a conversation I had with a well-known Hamilton sportsman it may be useful to a few of your sporting readers to know where two or three days' excellent sport can be bad. Leaving Hamilton and making for Waitoa settlement, thence shooting round Hougawera to Tauhai, thence across to Tarapipipi's settlement and down to the Piako river and up again three days' splendid shooting could be had, and scarcely a shot has' been fired over tbe ground. If the ehootist cares about duck shooting, bydroping down in a canoe to tbe lagoons from Hone te Kooti'a he can get them to his heart's content. « Sailing down ia a boat a fortnight ago I saw them in thousands. The canoe trip would only take a couple of days longer.-— I am, Spobtsman.
