THE NEW STEAMER.
Sib,— Upon reading the letter of the Mercer correspondent of the 'Herald,' ,m which, ho -refers to the new eteamer, built at Ngaruawahia lor the Waikato Steam Navigation Company, anyone at all acquainted with the facts cannot fail to observe that the writer m lliis case has been entirely misinformed, and lest any misapprehension should esiat m consequence, I may ' slater that the steamer m question was built by Mr A JXicol and from bis own designs, the engineering department only being under the suporvieion of Captain Lindsay. The saloon fittings, &c, were entrusted to Mr Matbison of Onehurigo. The best proof that the whole work has been carried out satisfnetori'y is th.it a similar steamer is to bo built almort immediately for the same Company. Upon tho principle of giving honour where honour is due, I am sure you will insert this.— l aui, &o, Settlbb, Ngaruawahia.
