PIAKO PARISH MEETING.
The ißev. Mr Oalder met the settlers of Piakb, on Saturday afternoon, m the sohoolhouse, at that settlement, "for the "purpose of organising a system of Church ministration.
The meeting having been opened with prayer, 'Mr Oaldffi^exSlwbed^tbrHfiSlS- 1 present the proposal of the Bishop, which was that every Sunday morning at 11 a.m there should be a servioe performed by a lay reader, Vand there Bh6tildibß»an« offertory service once a month conducted by the iucumbent r oi Cambridge, when a resident olergymm was appointed to that parish, but .that till then the Mipister's service should ba quarterly/ the la> reader taking the, intermediate services. For these service* the' Bishop proposed that the committee should pay a stipend of £5, .quarterly. .The proposition having met with the approval of the meet. ™&,P h * &??' Mr VfiUler nominated Mr Lholmondeley as. his committee man, and those present nominated 1 Messrs A (iubbins, and Harp, ou behalf of the parishlonerß. Mr Harp was also appointed treasurer and. secretary On Sunday morning there was a full muster of settlers and their families td attend divine service m the, sohoolroom, at which the Rev. Mr Calde'r officiated." The.achbolhouse which is a very pretty littie building some 28ft by 20ft will be used for ohurch purposes.
