THE WAIPA COUNCIL.

I It will be ramrabsred that at last meeting of the Waipa County Council, held ia April, after tho obsequies of the Act had beoa performed, Councillors Fisher, Hammond and Hay gave the notice of a special mecbing to be held on Monday last, for the purpose of its resurrection. The Council met at about 2.30. Present : Tbe Chairman (J D Hill), Messrs Q-ermaan, Maunders, FlizEatriok, Fisher and Hay. Mr Hay excused the absence of Mr Hammond, on account of his having miased tha train from Auckland on Saturday. After tha minutes ot the previous meeting had been read and confirmed, Or Hay moved, and Cr Fisher saconded — -'Thatiu the opinion of thia Council, the resolution passed at the last meeting of the Council, negativing the bringing into operation of the Counties Act iv the Waipa County be rescinded.' The mover stated that it was needless for him to eater iuto any elaborate argument on tbe subject of the motion, a3 that had been already done. from the Q-overnmant, asking suggestions regarding the prospeptive amenament of the Act. The, Council declined, m the present state of things, to advise.
