Sm,—l acknowledge the slight error, if it was one, by saying in my last, published in your ieauo of the sth inst, that he.'the Rev Mr got an altar erected, but .^l^as'nditaware of the <xact time Church was addrned with iiich'iv piece! of furniture, so that I thought lifesqif' little Whether it wsisereotejil on last Good Friday, or: the day oh Which St Peter's was first opened. My simply asking if such furnitureV&d,-should boused in our Church* ■■■P i WitU; refijrd to the' altar, I must say .jT' biive never known the cdmmunioln table to be called an altar, except' by .Ritualists, which I hope Hamilton w- free from.—l an), &c, A Member o» the KKdtisH Church.

Hamilton, 9th April, 1877. [We detest Ritualism as the Devil is said to hate holy water, jet we have always called and heard the altar called nn alta , : and not a communion, table. It is bo called even by the .Evangelical or Low Church clergy. We are glad our correspondent has again referred to the matter, as it enables us;toatate that our description of the decorations was incorrect, and calculated to mislead, inasmuch as we inadvertently used tHe term? •* crucifix " for "cross." The altar was simply draped with a black cloth,, bearing on it a white cross and motto.—Ed W.T.]
