THE WAIKATO CO NTY COUNCIL AND THE SECRETARYSHIP.
Sib, —The office hciira of the Waikato County Council,- as advertised, are solely those set apart for the convenience of ratepayers and other* having County business to transact, and for that very reason were made public. It by no means follows that the Clark ia expected, or could by any possibility, perform his work during those hours only. A little reflection on the part of a ' Kiiikinroa Ratepayer,' and an examination of the Act ia whioh the duties are defined, wou d have saved him the trouble of writing to the paper, and me the necesiity of r plying. Referring to the other remarks in your correspondents letter, I may Bay, briefly, that the Councillors have been elected to represent the ratepayers of Waikato, and may be safely enti listed to assess the services of their clerk at a proper value.— l nm, &e., F. R. Claude, Chairman W. C. C. .Hamilton East, January 23rd, 1877. :
