THE FOREIGN POLICY OF OUR COUNTY COUNCIL.

Sir,— The war clouds are gathering in dense and ominous" masses otev the eastern parts of Europe; and the cross is threatening to replace the cresc nt on the dome of St Sophia. The Bear is growling in bis den, and like Baram of yore, insults the mijetty of the Byzantine empire. Nations are arming against nations for deadly conflict, and the successor of Mahomet the Second is firing the martial spirit of his enthusiastic subjects. In times so fraught with peril, the fate of kingdoms depends on the wisdom of its rulers, and it is to be hoped thab the nascent county of Waipa wil be safely guided through the circumambient breakers. '1 he foreign policy of its infant government has not yet transpired, but it was decided upon at a Cabinet Council held on Friday last, in the city of Obaupo, and its reault instantly wired to the Great Powers. Some dissatisfaction prevails in

the higher circles of society in regard to Waikato not being represented at the Conference lately aittirisf at Conatnntinople, but suoh discontent is merely enlertained by a few individuals aspiring to that honour. The foreign policy disposed of, an animated di cussion ensued t relaJve to the de'enue of the district. On this subject opinions wre at variance. Some considered that Alexandra should be at once garrisoned with every available roan of the A 0 Force. Others a-rnin (bought that the peace mi.ht. b« btter preserved by the Native Minister giving an order for stores to every man woman and child among the Kintd'es, but a dispute arising as to whether Rihikihi or Alexandra should fbe the garrison town; and as to vrhioh store the orders should be made upon, both proposals tell to the ground. After considerable discussion, it was ultimately decided that a Royal Commission should be appointed to settle the matter.— From your Insane COIRBSPONDEMT. OhaiiLO. ;
