Mr A Grant, Chairman of the Highway Board, presided. I was not present, but I am informed that It wai Unanimously decided to ask Mr J D Hill to nlloir himsolf to bo nominated for th« office. Natire news, there is none. A good few of them have already gone down country to pass the holiday season amongst the pakeha. The funeral of the late Mrs Maunders, who died at Kihikihi, and vn burled yesterday at Kangiaohia, was the largest attended of any sinoe the war, tbe deceased lady being greatly respected. All the pnuoipal settlers from Ihe surrounding distriots attonded, to show tboir last mark of respect to the decease I and her lamenting husband.— Own Cobbksfoxuent.
