TOWN OF NGARUAWAHIA HIGHWAY DISTRICT. — ANNUAL MEETING.
The Annual Meeting of Highway Ratepayers was held at the Royal Mail Hotel, on the 13th instant. Mr Peter Kay was appointed Chairman of the meeting. He commenced proceedings by reading tho advertisement, and called upon Mr Goo. Edgocurabe to road the financial statement for the past year. I Mr Edgecambo then read the balance sheet, as follows : — Receipts for the year were mad© up as follows : Rates collected, £131 17s lid; punt rent, £101 10s; Government aid, £4G 0s 5d ; dog collars, £11 15s; depasturing- cattle, £6 16s 4d; sundries, £14 13a 6d; balance in' hand beginnings of year 1875-76, £101 14s; total, £414 Bs. Expenditure: Roads metalled, repaired, and newly formed, .£207 3s 2d ; fencing and planting trees, £54 4s lid; repairs to punt, £54 11s 8d; advertising-, £10 8s Cd ; dog collars, £1 18a ; commission, J216 17s lOd ; engineer's salary, £12 18s lOd; secretary's salary, jglO ; sundries, £13 Us ; total, £381 15* lid, leaving a balance to start the nsvr year ©f £32 \2s Id, against which there are outstanding liabilities of the Board to tho extent of about .£26. It was accepted by the ratepayers without dissent. The rate for- the ensuing year was then, ■struck at £1 in tho £ value to selL Tho following gentlemen were nominated as trustees for 1576-77: — Messrs BMgncumbe, Fitzpatrick, Hoag, Hunt, J I*, Kay, Newell, Hubert and Salmon. On the ballot being taken, it was fouu 1 that nil the old members (four) preaunt wore re-elected, and, that Mr Newall wai elects! by ft largj majority to th© other scab, no, the Bo.ird now consists of Messrs Elg*curnbe (Chnirman), E Fitzjjatrick, JI M Salmon, H W Hsbert, and H Newell. Messrs Harris and Hunt Auditors, anl Mr J T GiiFuey, Secretary. A vote of thanks to tho Ciairnrm, f>r hin courtesies, &c, &c, finished tho business. — Own Corresponbent.
