CAMBRIDGE. May 3rd, 1876.
Tha Good Templar's Tea Meeting >and Concert came oft* on Monday last, as advertised. The weather was no-t very i»vrting, and this coupl«d with the fact that Monday is Mindly a busy day, was pro Iwbly the cause of tho small attendance. Che eatables which had bet* provided by Vlr TreowhoulUr, were all that could be desired, and thoso present -seemed to enjoy a good appetite, to judge by the uun-
jilt in which, the tables were cleared* There was however an abundance. The Concert which followed was rather an impromptu affair, sufficient time not having been allowed for practice. Notwithstanding this, however, it passed off very well. The clarionet solos of Sergeant Macintosh were as usual excellent, and delighted the very select, if small audience. The remainder of the programme consisted of songs, readings, recitations, &c, which, met with the applause of the assembly. The ohair was very ably filled by Mr Urooks. In conclusion, I cannot refrain from saying- that these entertainments cannot be advertised too largely. A fear of the printer's bill on the part of the Committee was, I think, the cause of the small attendance. J have to apologise to the Te Awamuta Football Club for some of the remarks in my last letter. Sergt Macintosh did not decline to accept the captaincy, and I wasmibin formed in the matter. Ho was elected captain of both Club 3 in his absence. I hope that some arrangement will be mude to secure to both Clubs his valuable assistance. I cannot help saying though that as an old Cambridge man, we feel we have the greatest claim upon him. — Own Correspondent.
