Ja» Mooru appeared to answer the information of one Bryan, charging him with j title i n? away a waistcoat, rug, and blanket (his ptoporty), from one ot the Immigration cottages in Hamilton. The rug and blanket were produced in Court, ami each party laid claim to them. Constable Coyle stated that on Saturday evening an information was laid against defendant for going to one of the [uirnigratiou cottages and taking away a waistcoat, ru?, And blanket belonging to informant. Witness proceeded on Tuesday to Mr Coates camp, at a swamp about eight miles from .Hamilton, where defendant was Working. He admitted being in Hamilton on the Saturday and taking a blanket and rag (hiß own property), but denied ha?ing taken the waistcoat. Witness arrested htm. Ho said he could prove they were his own. Had searched the tent he lived in but found no waistcoat, only the rug and blanket. Informaut described the blanket and rug by marks. He said the rug was marked 87, but he did not mention the letter J and the broad arrovr which appear on it. Defendant stated that the goods were his and not plaintiff's. The marks were not J and the broad arrow but J M, his initials. The Bench dismissed the charge, and the blankets was handed over to the prisoner, who was at once discharged, having been locked np since Tuesday.
