Your informant as to Winiata's movements has been hoaxed as well as others here. The messenger who leported he had left Winiata at Te Kuiti was Te Ika, not Tawhiao'a but Ta Tawhiao's messenger, sent here on private business. lie gave out that he had seen Te Warana, a Wharepapa man, at Kuiti, who he said l'eportod that Winiata had been at Wharepapa, and had gone thence to Kuiti and on to Tahua, but Te Ika had only been gassing as usual. There is reliable news from Te Kuiti up to Friday morning, I aslso saw peoole this morning from VVharepapa an<3 Oaotearoa, and am satisfied that up to these dates Winiata had not been heard of at any of those places, et tending as "they do acrosß from the Waipa side to the back of Maungatautari. Tawhiao has hot been within 60 miles of Kuiti for the last three weeks, but has been visiting the different settlements at Kawhia and Aotea. Win'mta may have crossed the frontier and passed on to the sonthward, but there is no evidence of it in any shape.
