Hnppe draw up well ou her A.s stated, a pretest was lodged, Lady bcin« entered ns a four-y«nr-olrl, and also that she had run under a different name. After hearing the argument on both sides, the stewards decided that Happo was tho winner. Gilnockie draw off early in the race The Hnrdle Raee — taken by Lady Sarah, wbi well run for ; Crown having pushed her to her utmost. Inattention on the part of the owner of Crown to kin training lost him this race. Disturbance jumped well all through, but could not take up tho running. The really best race ai far ai contest goes, was the sth Hack Race — eleven horses started and eleven came in within the length of the rope of each other (40 yurds), but Butcher Boy took it with a length to spare. The Maori Horse Race Jwas quickly run with good hard gnllopping. Pom Poni pulled it off in two heats. This was for the iaddle and bridle presentod bv Mr Harris. The last event of the day, th« Consolation Stakes, were well fought for ; Don carried it, and his owner, well through, Bismarck running a good second. Of course bofora the races every horse was too heavily weighted, but aft*r all wns over satisfaction was expressed by all the owners. There was no excoption on the part of the Stewards spared to make the affair a success. The races would compare favorably with tho best that have Ukon place in Waikato.
