ALEXANDRA LICENCING COURT. (Before Commissioners Mair, Waddington, Bockett, and Gibson.) December 7th, 1875.
Mr Hay on behalf of Mr Canny applied for a license for his new hotel at Te Awmnutu, and addressed the bench at same coneiderable length in support of the application. There was no objection and Ihe was cleared to enable the Commissioners to consider ther decision. After an interval of tn hour tho Court was reopened and tho chairman announced th>it tb© Commissioner* considered thut one house was sufficient for Te A warnui u. The application was therefore refused. In the course of bis address supporting the application Mj Hay presented a petition signed by nearly the whole inhabitants of Te A. wAmutu and surrounding districts in favor of granting the lieen»e, and also drew the attention of the Court to the fact that the license for the present house was liable to be taken away at any lime on aocount of the non-residenc* of the licence holder.
